Welcome to the California Genealogical Society and Library Blog - for and about the society - its members, programs and events.
Tau & hola! I'm Dr. Ellen Fernandez-Sacco and i'm currently Past President of the society. I continued overseeing the blog after Kathryn Doyle, who created the blog in 2007, stepped down in early 2014.
Like other members of CGS, I have no California ancestors, but have found that belonging to the society is a very rewarding experience. Through various service positions, first in Book Repair, then the Research Committee, I went on to become the Society's Vice President and now President, all opportunities to develop new skill sets-- and more importantly, have a chance to work with a wonderful group of people.
If you're a member and haven't yet considered volunteering at CGS, please do-- as genealogy continues to grow as a field, the society also embodies these changes. You can be a part of this change and see your contributions make a difference.
The California Genealogical Society and Library blog is part of the growing fabric of CGS' social media presence. We publish accounts and tips by members, cover local events and more. If you're interested in contributing or submitting suggestions & feedback, please send me an email, or leave a comment at the end of any post!
